THE NIJUICHIDAISHU

The Nijuichidaishu exhibition at Verey Gallery, Eton College, where the spotlight shines on a captivating Japanese object from Eton College Collections: a lacquer box housing a manuscript copy of the Nijūichidaishū, an anthology of Waka poetry compiled between the 10th and 15th centuries. Gifted by Japanese Crown Prince Hirohito in 1921 after his visit to Eton, the display delves into the Crown Prince's visit, Japanese courtly culture, and Waka poetry, featuring objects from Eton College and loans from the Ashmolean and British Museums.
